The answer is quite clear: Yes! The reasons are for example:

• One or even more appointments are a must, especially in the case of major damage.
• In the event of a claim, there must be an inventory.
• Machines must be recorded for evaluation.
• ….

The expert procedure enables the (injured) policyholder to accompany the process with an expert of her confidence.

In the case of “public appointment and swearing-in”, an appointing body in Germany (Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Chamber of Engineers, Chamber of Crafts ….) confirms to an expert that he or she is particularly qualified in a specific field.

Personnel certification according to EN ISO/IEC 17024:2012 regulates the proof of training standards internationally. Evidence of personal certification to EN ISO/IEC 17024:2012 from a recognized and accredited body is recognized worldwide and is considered evidence of special expertise. It is likely that personal certification will also become established in Germany in the medium to long term.

Based on the (correct) insured value, the sum insured is agreed between the insurer and the policyholder. This influences the premium payments in the event of excess cover as well as the settlement in the event of a possible claim in the event of insufficient cover.
